However like you're doing, getting the best modules available as soon as possible for oil production (speed 2 and prod 2) is worth it. More importantly, once you get some intial modules in and everything is working, let it run rather than tinker with it while you go develop a few more oil fields.

I understand it's probly best over time, but... if you can get 60% faster speed with anything modules can be palced on, what's the point of having 12% more production with a 45% decrease in speed AND a different % increase in energy consumption and pollution? Oil processing is a large part of Factorio. The oil refinery needs to have a recipe set (see above for available recipes). The refining can be sped up with modules; to prevent jams or inactive buildings it is recommended to speed everything up evenly.
